MICHAEL BAUMGARTEN

I CAME ACROSS THIS PHOTOGRAPHER IN AN OLD COPY OF VOGUE. HE CREATES MANY STILL LIFE FASHION IMAGES LIKE THE ONES SHOWN ABOVE. THESE PARTICULAR PHOTOGRAPHS I JUST LOVE. I LOVE THE WAY THE BRIGHT ORANGE POPS AGAINST THE CLEAN WHITE BACKGROUND. I ALSO LIKE THE WAY SOMETHING ELSE, FOR EXAMPLE THE GOLDFISH HAS BECOME THE CENTRE OF THE IMAGE RATHER THAN THE MODEL. ONLY THE MODELS HANDS ARE SHOWN SO THAT MUCH MORE FOCUS IS PUT ON THE JEWELLERY WITHIN THE PHOTOGRAPH. I THINK THESE IMAGES ARE QUIRKY AND A GREAT USE OF PROPS, SHOWING THAT A MODEL ISN'T ALWAYS NEEDED TO CREATE A FANTASTIC FASHION IMAGE.

RICHARD AVEDON

RICHARD AVEDON WAS AN AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER MAINLY FOCUSING ON FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY HOWEVER, IN HIS LATER YEARS HE VENTURED INTO FINE ART. MY FAVOURITE THING ABOUT AVEDONS WORK IS HIS USE OF MOVEMENT WITHIN QUITE A LOT OF HIS IMAGES. WHETHER HE WAS PHOTOGRAPHING IN THE STUDIO OR OUT ON LOCATION HE MANAGED TO BRING MOVEMENT TO HIS IMAGES. I LIKE THE THOUGHT THAT THE WORLD IS ALWAYS MOVING AND CHANGING YET BY TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH YOU ARE FREEZING A MOMENT IN TIME FOREVER. THIS IS THE THOUGHT THAT RICHARD AVEDONS WORK GIVES ME AND FOR THIS REASON I AM A FAN.

LOVING LANVIN

I'M LOVING THE SPRING 2010 READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION FROM LANVIN. DESIGNED BY ALBER ELBAZ IT GOES FROM STUNNINGLY SIMPLE COCKTAIL DRESSES WITH ACCENTUATED FABRIC CURVES TO SLOUCHY JUMPSUITS WITH OVERSIZED CHUNKY JEWELLERY BEFORE FINISHING OFF WITH THAT BLAST OF GLITTER THAT THE MAGPIE IN ME JUST CAN'T RESIST! THIS COLLECTION IS CHIC AND FEMININE AND I JUST LOVE IT!

GLEN LUCHFORD

GLEN LUCHFORD IS A WELL KNOWN FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER. I REALLY LIKE HIS WORK. AGAIN THESE IMAGES REFLECT A FEMININE LUXURIOUS FEEL WHICH I LOVE. I LIKE THE USE OF LIGHTING AND POSES THAT HE HAS USED WITHIN THESE IMAGES. I ALSO LIKE THE CLOTHING AND STYLING THAT HAS BEEN USED. I THINK THAT THIS TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPHY ILLUSTRATES AN ESCAPE FOR THE VIEWER. IT IS A DREAM WORLD FULL OF INNOCENCE.

SPIRIT OF THE FASHION HOUSE

THESE IMAGES ARE TAKEN FROM A PROJECT THAT I DID TITLED "SPIRIT OF THE FASHION HOUSE". I WORKED AS PART OF A GROUP TO PRODUCE IMAGES THAT COULD BE USED AS PART OF A PERFUME CAMPAIGN FOR OUR CHOSEN BRAND, CHRISTIAN DIOR. WE WENT FOR A 1940's FEEL OF RED LIPS, ELEGANCE AND BEAUTY. THE LOCATION WAS MILLAR ARCADE IN PRESTON TOWN CENTRE. THIS LOCATION PROVED PERFECT FOR THE LOOK WE WHERE GOING FOR. WE PLAYED AROUND WITH POSES ETC UNTIL WE HAD OUR FINAL PHOTOGRAPHS. WE THEN SATURATED THE FINAL IMAGES SO THAT THEY BECAME BLACK AND WHITE. FINALLY WE HIGHLIGHTED THE RED SO THAT IT WOULD STAND OUT FROM THE IMAGE BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND AND WE WANTED THE MODEL TO BE AT THE FOR FRONT OF THE IMAGE.

JONAS HALLBERG

JONAS HALLBERG IS A STYLIST FROM STOCKHOLM. HE WORKS WITH THE HOLLYWOOD ELITE, STYLING THE LIKES OF SCARLETT JOHANSSON (ABOVE), JESSICA ALBA, AND CAMERON DIAZ, AMONG OTHERS. HE ALSO HAS MANY COMMERCIAL CLIENTS UNDER HIS BELT. AS CAN BE SEEN FROM HIS WORK AND ALSO THE REASON I AM A FAN OF HIS WORK, HE SHOWS A STYLE WHICH IS COOL, SIMPLE, SEXY AND FEMININE. "HIS PASSION IS THE ETERNALLY FEMININE, CLASSICALLY GLAMOROUS AND STYLISHLY LUXURIOUS." FOR ALL THESE REASONS I REALLY LOVE THE WAY HE STYLES. MORE IMAGES OF HIS WORK CAN BE SEEN AT... http://www.lundlund.com/stylists/jonas-hallberg

CAMILLA AKRANS

I LOVE THIS FASHION PHOTOGRAPHERS WORK SOOO MUCH. I DON'T REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER HERSELF. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET BUT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT HER. THIS DOESN'T TAKE AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT SHE PRODUCES AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY THOUGH. HER LOOK SEEMS TO BE SOME WHAT DREAMY AND PRETTY, CREATING A WORLD OF BEAUTY AND INNOCENCE. I REALLY LOVE THIS LOOK, THE COLOURS AND OVERALL FEEL OF THE IMAGES. MORE OF HER IMAGES CAN BE FOUND AT... http://www.lundlund.com/photographers/camilla-akrans

CREDIT CRUNCH CUSTOMISATION

THESE IMAGES ARE TAKEN FROM THE CREDIT CRUNCH PROJECT I DID AT THE BEGINNING OF 2ND YEAR. I WAS GIVEN A LARGE WHITE T-SHIRT THAT I HAD TO CUSTOMISE WHATEVER WAY I LIKED. I DECIDED TO GO FOR A GIRLY ORIENTAL FEEL. I USED A SILK SCARF FROM A CHARITY SHOP AS THE SLEEVES TO CREATE A KIMONO STYLE FLOATY FEEL. I THEN EMBELLISHED THE NECKLINE WITH SEQUINS AND BEADS IN THE SHAPES OF FLOWERS - THIS IDEA AND ALSO THE IDEA FOR THE COLOUR WERE BOTH TAKEN FROM THE JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOMS WHICH I THINK ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL.
FOR THE PHOTOSHOOT I USED CHOPSTICKS IN THE HAIR AND ALSO THE ORIENTAL UMBRELLA TO EMPHASIS THE LOOK I WAS TRYING TO ACHIEVE.

SESAME MAGAZINE

I RECENTLY STUMBLED ACROSS AN AUSTRALIAN ONLINE MAGAZINE CALLED SESAME. IT'S SUCH A NICE ONLINE PUBLICATION, FULL OF LOVELY IMAGES, MINI FILMS AND OTHER CUTE EXTRAS.
THE IMAGES ABOVE WERE TAKEN FROM SESAME UNDER THE TITLE OF 'SIRENS'. I LOVE THE MAGICAL FEEL TO THESE PHOTOGRAPHS, THE FAIRY-LIKE CLOTHING AND TWINKLY MAKE-UP. I ALSO THINK THE LOCATION AND LIGHTING REALLY DOES THE OVERALL IMAGE JUSTICE, GIVING THE IDEA OF A MAGICAL WOODLAND NYMPH CAUGHT ON CAMERA.
I TOTALLY RECOMMEND CHECKING OUT THIS WEBSITE IF YOU HAVE A SPARE MINUTE... http://sesamemedia.com/
